RAC (Remix Artist Collective) are playing Bar Smith on May 6. Not familiar with RAC? Well you're certainly familiar with the artists they've remixed -- U2, Radiohead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, John Lennon, The Shins, and Pink Floyd, among a ton of others.

The Collective is pretty populist, tackling indie acts like Hockey with the same funky, club twitchy sound they bring to Tegan & Sara.

While some folks doing remixes isn't impressive news, the way RAC works is fairly unique. In addition to samples and beats, RAC break out actual instruments to create a live feel, and something warmer and more unique than the plug in and press play DJs.

The group comes to Phoenix courtesy of Stateside and the long running Sticky Fingers night and will be joined by standard members of the S.F. crew: William "Fucking" Reed. Prince$$, 2TONEDISCO, Radar, Pickster One and Austin Head.

Hear some of the group's remixes after the break, and let us know in the comments if the band manages to redeem "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon. This writer's opinion? Nope, but nice effort.
