Pfeffer hadn't been to a rave in several years, and suffered through a rainy night fresh from learning that he sadly didn't win New Times $1,000 Big Brain award, which he was nominated for.

Up On The Sun cartoonist Pfeffer shouldn't have won the Big Brain Award. That, in no way, is a commentary on his work. The fact is his nomination was a conflict of interest from the start, since he is a New Times contributor, so should've been disqualified on that basis alone.

There's plenty of Phx literary-types not directly connected to NT that could've filled that nomination slot instead.

If you want Pfeffer to get $1000, just give him a f*cking pay raise instead. He deserves it.
