I had no idea who Aaron Lewis was until I heard this song. When I looked him up, I was surprised to find out he sang with Staind. Obviously I liked the song enough to look him up. If you weren't born and raised in America how are you even part of this discussion? I'll start off by saying that I have no issue with your disliking this artist, this song, or your considering it a 'true' country song. Thankfully we're all different in appearence, talent, what we appreciate, etc, which is what makes one man's trash another man's treasure. Honestly, 'true' country is the one genre I have never been able to appreciate. The likes of Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle, Brad Paisley, and Carrie Underwood being as country as I can appreciate. And, my best guess would be that such artists music would be considered more like pop-country music. So, since I love this song, I would have already bet that it wouldn't be deemed 'true' country, being more like the aforementioned (rhythmic songs sung by those w/strong, actual singing voices).

What bothers me isn't even your full review, since although it wasn't a good one, it was surprisingly rather objective. It wasn't personally scathing, biased, and just ignorantly biggoted as this (I guess I'll call it a 'pre-review'), and as what you say in defense of this in the following comments, are. It's obvious that you have disdain for people with piercings and/or tattoos, as well as for Northeasterners and successful nu-metal artists. You not only call the artist a piece of shit in the comment section, but your response to a commentor replying that you were the piece of shit was, "Let me ask you something, Luvaaron: Have I ever had an eyebrow ring? Am I covered in dumb tattoos? Have I ever been the singer of a shitty nu-metal band?" Really, sir? Really? Those things not only have absolutely no relevence as to whether or not one is a piece of shit, but I'm betting most would argue that one whom claims to judge another so superficially is actually acting like a piece of shit. You actually stated, "...picturing this nu metal dbag on a tractor actually bothers me more..." than your assumption of his tea-party beliefs, your dislike for his use of a sample of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic," or any of the actual content of the song of his that you are reviewing lol. I think that, right there, would make one realize that maybe they can't possibly be impartial enough to review anything regarding this artist.

I'd like to add, I believe that you (like most) confuse southern/western with country. Despite WHERE country music began, one does not have to be from the south or mid-west to be 'country' or to live 'country.' To be 'country' denotes many things, but mostly living in/growing up in the sticks...the COUNTRY. Wouldn't it be more correct to say 'country' people are the salt-of-the-earth people, generally living in the sticks, who know and help their neighbors, live off the land, and/or work with their hands, hunt, fish, drive trucks, etc, not those that wear 10-gallon western hats and cowboy boots, or ride horses, or have a southern twang. The latter would be south-western traits, would they not? And, anyone can posess those traits. A rich Englishman can be an expert horse rider, yet as country as a NYC housewife. A vegan, PETA member that's a compter programmer who grew up in a metro southern area would most likely have a southern twang, may wear cowboy boots and/or a big cowboy hat, and could possibly ride a horse, but would most likely not be considered a 'country.' So, if a New Englander lived most of his life in backwoods areas of New England (or Australia, Canada, etc.), knows and helps his neighbors, hunts, fishes, and yes, has a tractor and even drives himself in his Ford Pickup truck to and from his New England shows, he can't be 'country,' because he once had an eyebrow piercing, has tattoos, listened to and made music of a genre other than country, and now has money? So, true 'country' folk don't ever get tats, listen to or make any type of music other than country, could never have had a piercing (no matter how young they were when they got it), and are all poor? I'm betting there are a lot of 'country' folk that would beg to differ. Your presuppositions about, and obvious bias toward this particular artist appears to make you unequivocably unfit to impartially judge his artistry...and, definitely his character. I truly hope that you think about how unprofessionally you handled this review, due to your personal presumptions about the artist, the next time a review for someone else you have such bias towards comes across your desk, making you act like a professional by passing on reviewing their artistry.

Apparently Martin Cizmar has nothing better to do with his life. Aaron Lewis is an amazing vocalist & songwriter. If you don't like what you're seeing or listening to...change the damned channel.
