Who wasn't twisted over Keith Sweat circa 1996?
There's no formal way of choosing which artist to write about for any given week's incoming shows. I usually just pick the one that jumps out at me and makes me harken back to the days when MTV actually played videos -- good videos.

That's why Keith Sweat is this week's featured artist. His videos for "Twisted" and "Nobody" were MTV staples about fourteen years ago, and they are both beyond fantastic. Sweat is probably best known for his 1987 hit "I Want Her," and rightfully so -- the song is a beacon of New Jack Swing, produced by the genre's godfather Teddy Riley. However, it's his hit singles from 1996's Keith Sweat that cemented the man's career.

R&B was on top of the world in the mid-to-late 1990s, thanks in part to solid offerings from artists like Sweat, R. Kelly and Usher -- offerings that had amazing music videos to accompany them ("Down Low" and "My Way" come to mind). Those years were just unparalleled for not only musical production but for the sheer fun those artists had making their music.

Joining Keith Sweat with their own just announced shows are Lucero, B.B. King Sebadoh and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
