B.o.B. Performs at Jackrabbit Lounge This Weekend
Arizona might not have a House of Blues yet, but the owners of Jackrabbit Lounge are hoping the nightclub becomes a destination for live music lovers in Old Town Scottsdale.
Since Don Serpe purchased the bar back in July, the bar has hosted nearly 10 Top 40 performances, including Nelly, DMX and Far East Movement. This Saturday, October 16, B.o.B. performs on the platform, after his concert in Tucson earlier that night. The poppy rapper has had several hits this year, including "Airplanes," "Nothin' on You" and "Magic".
Because of Jackrabbit's stage set-up, with a catwalk wrapping around the bar area, patrons can get up-close-and-personal with artists, who often mingle in the crowd before and after shows.
"I feel like people 10 years from now will remember the time they're 2 feet away from the performer when they're standing at the bar," Serpe says. He says he hopes to bring a variety of popular performers through Jackrabbit, including a fall performance by DJ David Guetta and weekly live bands on Sunday nights in the coming weeks.
Serpe, a former concert promoter, has a lot of connections in the music industry and hopes to coordinate shows with performers who are in town for concerts.
"A lot of people open up clubs, and they do it all the same," Serpe says. "This was a way to stand out and be different."
That's not the only change to Jackrabbit. What used to be nightly burlesque performances are now limited to special events, to "keep the energy of the nightclub." Expect burlesque, as well as a champagne bath, next Saturday, October 23, when the club celebrates its 4-year anniversary.
And this weekend, patrons can look forward to a renovated space, with a completely re-done patio in black tile and granite, as well as renovated booths, carpet and tables.
B.o.B. is scheduled to perform around 11:30 p.m. at the 21-and-older show. See a video of Far East Movement's performance below.
