As much as we like to deny that we were awkward teenagers, the fact remains that we most certainly were. When I think of my own teenage years, I tend to reflect on the music that I really liked. 

While I started to come around in my late teenage years, the early portion reflected a certain genre that was ungodly popular at the time -- emo. One of the many bands I enjoyed listening to was New Jersey outfit Saves the Day

Their 2001 album Stay What You Are was gospel, and the lead single "At Your Funeral" remains an insanely fun song some 9 years later. The song was such a tour de force of all things emo that the creative minds at 5-Second Films used it in their hilarious "Emo Cowboys" film. 

Brilliant, right? Well, it just so happens that Saves the Day -- along with Five For Fighting, Tim Kasher, Atreyu, Deer Tick and No Age -- have just announced shows in the Valley. You can finally reenact your own emo duel with some live accompaniment.
