The identity of the teenager drive allegedly responsible for the fatal vehicle accident that claimed the life of Arizona-born hip-hop star Carnegie (a.k.a. Abay Lattin) has surfaced in the local media.

According a story posted on KPHO's website, the 17-year-old driver is identified as Kathryn Elizabeth Hetrick of Gilbert.

Tempe Police Department officials also stated earlier today that Hetrick will be charged with one count of manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault as result of the accident. As we reported earlier, she is suspected of being under the influence at the time of the crash, which occurred at around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning when her Ford Expedition slammed into a vehicle carrying Lattin.

Police officials have stated that blood alcohol results are still pending.

To all you people defending katie, I know her personally and she is not a good kid. She has been drinking and doing drugs for years. Something like this was bound to happen and it is her fault and no one elses. She deserves to be tried as an adult and spend time in jail.

to all those defending Kathering Hetrick, you should be ashamed of yourself . she is a wild piece of garbage. Those who say she is a child , well children don't get wasted out of their minds on pills and alcohol at 3am and drive a deadly weapon uncontrollably down the street. try her as an adult. she will be 18 in less than two months. She killed two wonerful young men, she should rott in prison

lock up the parents for supplying a17 year old wild girl with a weapon/vehicle. She was obviously popping pills and drinking out of control which I am sure they knew. Katherine deserves the death penalty. Her parents should lose everything and be sued for every last penny

And to the person who said that Katie should be raped, Katie made a really huge mistake with a lifetime of consequences, but you are pure evil. There is no comparison.

Katie comes from a wonderful, well respected, loving, God-fearing family. She is still a child and what happened is unspeakably tragic. I am sure the two innocent victims are also from loving families who are grieving terribly. My heart breaks for all the families and friends close to this horrible horrible situation. But this was an accident, bottom line. Yes, justice must be served because of the value of these two lives, but God is not only just, He is merciful. So I pray for justice and also for mercy for sweet Katie who must be going through absolute hell.

The ignorance in most of the comments posted absolutely amazes me. First, regardless of how old you are, your parents cannot watch you 24/7/365, it is not possible! Even if it was possible, there comes a point and time when a child makes their own decisions, NO parent can be held responsible for choices their child makes away from home. Second, we ALL make mistakes, she did not get up that morning with the intent to cause an accident, but she will have to live with this for the rest of her life. I have no doubt that there are some teens who don't drink or who do drink but have never driven a car after drinking, However, let's be honest, those of you who have posted such awful statements, how inocent are you?? Have you ever driven a car after having a drink? Maybe you were lucky enough to get away with it...count your blessings...if you have ever done this then you are just as guilty, you could have been the driver instead of her. Have you ever made a mistake, done something you wish you could take back? Something you will regret for the rest of your life? I have been on both sides of a situation as horrific as this, I have seen and felt the devestating affects this type of tragedy causes. Please remember this devestates EVERYONE. My heart and prayers go out to EVERYONE involved in and affected by this terrible, terrible accident. May God be with them all!!

From what I understand she has been drinking and taking pills since before her freshman year in high school, so yes her parents are responsible for her. THEY should have done something years ago to get her actions under control!

Young people...please please be vigilant when driving. Look both ways before entering the roadway. And if you are going to drink or do drugs, be thoughtful and have a designated driver. Unfortunately for this young woman, she will have many long months and years to think about her choice that unfortunate night.

The comment about her parents may be considered ignorant, but it is not at all ignorant to say that she should be locked up. She is SEVENTEEN years old, not even a legal adult, and was drinking and driving. She took the lives of two people. How many more crimes does she need to commit before locking her up will be considered a logical punishment?

AMY-YOU DO NOT KNOW HER, YOU DO NOT KNOW HER PARENTS, AND YOU DO NOT KNOW THE SITUATION. SHE WAS A STUDENT AT ASU, AND WAS LIVING IN DORMS, THEREFOR HER PARENTS WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HER ACTIONS. YES, SHE DOES DESERVE PUNISHMENT, SHE TOOK THE LIVES OF TWO INNOCENT PEOPLE, BUT PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING IGNORANT COMMENTS ABOUT HER OR HER FAMILY.

Lock her up. Lock her parents up too for not supervising their child.

sweet katie! lmao she is far from sweet.  Katie is a reckless, unstable, loose woman.  Sweet people don't take two prescription medications then go out and drink liquor and then go drive down the street at 3 am when they are 17 years old.  She is a fat ugly tramp and deserves to die in prison.

Kathryn Hetrick is responsible for two deaths, she is also at least partially responsible for the motorcyclist Matt West as well. So far it looks as though the ball has been dropped, lets us just hope it all come out in court// alehound even the name you give yourself shows your complete stupidity. Ms. Hetrick robbed me of my son at only 19 . He could have gone on to become the greatest doctor ever. But such totally ignorant statement such as yours are so uncalled for. you sir should be the one put awat for life.

Alehound you are a PATHETIC PIG, who is cruising the blogs that have to do with this accident and posting on all of them. find something useful to do with your time instead of talking trash..Make a difference in the world instead of wishing horrible things on people. What makes you any better by saying what you did??? What you said is pathetic, sick, and not to mention racist!! Get some respect for yourself.. Most def GROW UP!!

Take notice county prosecutor and Tempe Police she took the lives of 2 innocent peple not just 1 but yet only 1 manslaughter charge. Fumbled ball in the endzone . Hetrick 2 Justice 0

This is the lowest, most immature comment I've ever read. Please grow up before you post comments. If you knew Katie at all, you would know she is far from anything you are saying. She made a mistake, as you did writing these comments and I'm sure you do on a daily basis. Just because your mistakes don't result in dead bodies doesn't put you above her.

Maybe if your son wasn't on drugs and alcohol himself, he would be alive today.

In reply to my own statement and another I read this morning in regard to how good of a kid Kathryn was and on her life long dream was to become a doctor or perhaps doctors without borders. This is direct quotes from Matts mother and myself made to TV reporters long ago. So she has not only taken my son's life but now she wants to still his identity as well. Which by the way someone already has used him on their income tax as a deduction. So my taxes have been returned when I need the money most. if she was such a good kid why then did her parents not have her added to there insurance policy,. It is my humble feelings that the ball has been dropped many time from both the County Prosecuters Office as well as the police department. It is not a christian thing to wish bad on anyone, but justice shoud be served. She should be imprissoned long enough that she can never be a doctor. My son certainly cannot be.. These charges should not be reduced and this girl to receive the fullest penalty of the law. And when she can't pay then her parents should be mad to. then justce will be served

Take notice to the fact that Matthew West was on drugs and alcohol himself riding a motorcycle at 3 a.m. and hitting the accident and MINUTE after it had happened. Maybe if he wasn't under any influence himself, he could have avoided the accident. As far as I'm concerned, he killed himself. Katie 1 Justice 1.

I agree with you alex!!! DUI on a motorcycle at 3 a.m. or anytime. WOW!!!! killed himself!!!!!
