Wyclef Jean Hasn't Given Up Hope on Haitian Presidency

Who says pop stars aren't perseverant?
By now you've probably heard the news that Haitian presidential hopeful Wyclef Jean was disqualified from the race, as determined by the Haitian board of elections. The latest word on the blogosphere though is that Wyclef ain't quite ready to give up yet. According to E! Online Jean plans to appeal the decision, arguing that he was disqualified even before the official office that handles election disputes could properly make a ruling.

The best part? Jean is tweeting the news for all the world to see. The tweet read, "Tomorrow our Lawyers are appealing the decision of the CEP. We have met all the requirements set by the laws. And the law must be Respected."

In actuality though, the legality of his candidacy is one of the things about his decision to run that may not be legal. While the Fugee was born in Haiti, the law requires that a presidential candidate must live inside the country for the five years leading up to the election in order qualify. If you actually want to keep tabs on this story, screw major news outlets. Your best bet is likely that darned Twitter account. Ah -- 21st century electronic gossip at its finest...
