Nicki Minaj's "Your Love" a Good Song to Hate

While some may insist Nicki Minaj is the most promising lady out there right now in the female rap game, it's sad that such a prolific artist ends up bashing her own gender so often. Instead of an empowering artist carrying the torch for lady wordsmiths, we're stuck with silliness concerning threesomes and violent threats.

Her second solo single, "Your Love," is just as big of a disappointment. The sleepy track, which isn't even original in that it samples Annie Lennox's "No More I Love You's," fails to say anything meaningful.

The chorus is a simple repeating of, "Your love, your love." Your love what? Yes, the track is technically a love song, but it's sad Minaj doesn't even use coherent grammar, opting to just sing a fragment over and over again. The shame!

So just what is it about this guy that Nicki loves so much? Well, "he the type to pop tags and be cockin' the brim." Because showing off where you shop and wearing your hat a certain way are really impressive.

She then goes on to babble about how she met him in past lives, when they were Adam and Eve and a geisha and a samurai. Here in present day, he "keep a do-rag". What a prince--someone she'd love to commit disastrous sins with and prostitute herself out for. He has a do-rag, after all.

It's not just that the lyrics to "Your Love" are completely asinine. The melody is so bare bones, it sounds lazy. Nicki needs to stop trying to be Lil' Kim and write something that's original and meaningful--that's what would make her more lovable, for sure.
