Lindsay Lohan's Musical Career: A Retrospect

Lindsay Lohan may not be able to take an iPod with her when she starts her 90-day jail sentence, but that doesn't mean she can't use the experience to get inspired for a new album. Lohan, who released only two albums, in 2004 and 2005, could really use a career jump start once she's out of the slammer, so why not give the public what they want: more Lindsay music!

In honor of her sentencing, let's take a look back at Lindsay's solo musical career and how her songs and videos may have brought her to where she is today.

"Rumors"

In her first single as a solo artist, off of 2004's Speak, Linz sings, "I'm tired of rumors starting, I'm sick of being followed." So, naturally, the music video features lots of cleavage and shots of her dancing with strangers in a club--an example of life imitating "art" if there ever was one.

"Over"

Her next single was the break-up ballad, "Over." This video has more troubles than just Lindsay's heart being broken by her hook-up buddy. There are more party shots, scenes of Lindsay in a car that's doing donuts and trashy eye make-up. Already, she looks way older than 18 and prime to play a stripper in a film. Oh, wait, she did that, in the box office bomb, I Know Who Killed Me.

"First"

This song, her third single off of Speak, was from Lindsay's movie, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and since that was a Disney movie, the song and video are way tamer than you'd expect from her. She still manages to get some bumping and grinding in, though.

"Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)"

This is the first single off of Lindsay's second album, A Little More Personal (Raw). Lindsay sings about how sad she is that her father has supposedly abandoned her, and the video depicts her dad abusing her mom, her sister and herself. To really drive the point of her heartache home, Lindsay sings to a rosary while wearing an expensive gown. While the song was technically her most successful, peaking at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, no other singles were released, leaving fans' last memory of Lindsay's solo music video career one of her crying next to a bathtub. Maybe her next clip could feature some sexy prison shots, à la Lady Gaga in "Telephone."
