The Summer Set Gears Up For (Go Figure) a Busy Summer with Hot Topic In-Store Appearance and Vans Warped Tour

The Summer Set: Their bikes could beat up your bikes

​Fresh off a successful run on the AP Tour this spring, Scottsdale pop rockers the Summer Set are not slowing down. The band returns to the road this week as part of the annual Vans Warped Tour. The genre-bending mega-festival kicks off this Friday in Carson, Calif. and makes a Phoenix stop at Cricket Pavilion on Tuesday, June 29. For the Summer Set, the Warped Tour slot was a long time in the making.

"We've actually been booked on Warped Tour for a long time now," says lead singer Brian Dales. "It was an accumulation of a lot of things. Our agent felt it was the perfect summer tour for us to be on. We have some buzz behind us. Our manager and [Warped Tour creator] Kevin Lyman have worked together a lot in the past."

The band knows that playing the Warped Tour is a big deal, but even high-profile gigs have a downside or two, such as the rotating time slots bands must endure on the Warped Tour. Dales says the band will likely play later in the day at the Phoenix stop, but that won't always be the case.

"Playing at noon is gonna suck," Dales says. "I've never sung that early. It's hot and it's noon, so that'll be interesting."

Before they hit the road, the Summer Set is making an in-store appearance at the Hot Topic in Desert Ridge Marketplace to chat with fans and sign autographs. The band even made a short video promoting the in-store for Up on the Sun.

The Summer Set is scheduled to make an in-store appearance on Tuesday, June 22, at Hot Topic in Desert Ridge Marketplace and to perform as part of the Vans Warped Tour on Tuesday, June 29 at Cricket Pavilion.
