Bad news, Phoenix: It will be 104 degrees today. If the heat is already starting to bother you, it's time to start planning weekend trips to the high country.

July 10 is looking like a good day to drive up to Flagstaff for the Hullabaloo music festival.

The name Hullabaloo makes it sound vaguely like an important music festival ("Dude, you've never been to Hullabaloo? It's, like, the best! Have you ever been to Northern Lands by West or SirenPitch?") but it's a pretty small affair at this point. Just some folks chillin' at what organizers call "The Hallowed Grounds of Wheeler Park" for the afternoon and evening.

The headliner is one of the very best bands in Arizona, Tucson's Sergio Mendoza y la Orkesta, a classic Latin big band which plays a great many variants on the mambo. Sedona's Yin Yang & Zen Some and Flag's own Gravy round out the bill. Oh, yes, and there will be Hopi drummers, possibly in a circle.

New Times has told you before about Sergio Mendoza, so you should know the band is well-worth a two-hour drive, especially if it's a two-hour drive north in July.

Check out a live mp3 from Sergio and his Orkesta here.

Tickets for this shindig are only $5 (the first folks at the door get in free) and there will also be a wheelie contest, a costume contest, and a bike parade.
