Pink Floyd's The Wall Turned Into a Musical? The 30th Anniversary Tour Might Not Be the Only New Wall Project

So I guess it's officially time for every superstar rock musician who was once edgy and cool to make a fucking musical.

As if it wasn't enough for The Who to do it in the '70s or Green Day now, TwentyFourBit reports that Pink Floyd's Roger Waters has admitted to the Associated Press that for the last year he's been working "on and off" on a musical version of The Wall.

Waters is celebrating the record's 30th anniversary in a big way, opening a "The Wall" North American tour on September 15 in Toronto before bringing it through Phoenix on Saturday, November 27. Tickets for that show at US Airways Center go on sale May 10.

But enough about the rock show... What's up with this musical? Just one question, Roger: Why??? Didn't you already make a conceptual (and fairly disturbing) film starring the lead singer of The Boomtown Rats, Bob Geldof, based on your double album in 1982? How the hell are you gonna turn this into a "musical"?

He is though, working on some public art in New York and LA. He's been spray painting walls in the cities with one of his favorite quotes from former president Dwight Eisenhower. The quote is:

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
"

Doubt the art project will make it to Arizona any time soon. But maybe we can catch the off-Broadway production of the musical after the actual concert. I'll probably just stick with the concert.
