The 2010 lineup for the Sasquatch! Music Festival has been announced, and it is, my friends, rather impressive (finally)
It's been a long time coming, but the Sasquatch! Music Festival -- held annually at Washington's Gorge Amphitheater over Memorial Day weekend -- has come of age. Too long the festival had been bogged down by underwhelming lineups, but 2009 started an impressive upturn in the artists being asked to play.

2010's version of Sasquatch has drilled this home, shaking off what made the festival seem so listless and confusing (read: booking Jason Mraz). Today marks the festival's official lineup announcement and boy, oh boy is it a doozy. Full artist listing  -- with commentary -- after the jump.

This is by no means the complete lineup, as there are more artists to be announced, but damn do I ever like that initial lineup. Growing up in Portland, Oregon, I never had the urge to want to drive the 5+ hours to George, Washington to actually attend the festival (thanks, Jason Mraz), but this lineup makes me seriously consider going. They have taken what Coachella perfected with their Sahara Tent (the dance tent) and what Lollapalooza has begun undertaking and provided a solid core of DJs and other electronic acts to balance things out. A-Trak, Boys Noize, LCD Soundsystem, Deadmau5 and Hudson Mohawk round out an impressive core group of these electronic music acts.

Leading the way are Pavement, as announced last year, My Morning Jacket, Massive Attack and, unfortunately, two acts that have huge fan bases and widespread appeal yet are both pretty lame live: MGMT and Vampire Weekend. That's okay, though, as long as Jason Mraz won't be making an appearance this year.

Sasquatch! kicks off Saturday, May 29 and runs through Monday. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 11 AM, unless you have a fancy passcode for the internet presale, which starts tomorrow.
