Silent Bob is headed for the Valley. But will he fly Southwest Airlines to get here?
Chances are good that you've read a thing or two about Kevin Smith on the Internets lately.

The outspoken -- and oversized -- auteur (the director of such indie flicks Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Dogma) has received much attention over the past two weeks due to the one-man jihad he's been waging against Southwest Airlines and it's "person of size" policies

Smith will stage one of his fabled "Evening With..." Q&A sessions on Saturday, April 10, at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Phoenix, but won't be buying a ticket on what he's dubbed the "Greyhound of the Air." According to a recent Tweet, Smith plans on driving from his home in L.A. to our fair Valley for what should prove to be a hilarious and memorable night.

If you're not familiar with the situation, here's the, um...skinny: Smith was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight on February 13 when flight attendants felt he was too obese to comfortably sit in his seat. The erstwhile Silent Bob then began raising a ruckus online, defaming the discount airlines via his Twitter account and Web site to anyone who will listen.

Smith has been milking the situation plenty since the incident, getting himself plenty of press in the process -- which is good, considering he's got a new movie coming out this weekend. It leads me to believe he'll have a thing or two to say about the situation when he visits Phoenix (a.k.a. one of the major hubs for Southwest) in a few weeks.

For those such as myself who are fans of Smith and the View Askewniverse, no doubt you're already familiar with his series of long-winded Q&A session that have been staged at college campuses and venues both here in American and in Europe.

He's finally bringing the event to Phoenix and will spend upwards of three or four hours answering queries about his films and stating his feelings on the nerdish topics du jour, including what's going on in the world of comic books and sci-fi.

Tickets are $49.50 to $59.50. More info can be found here.
