I just wish I had any indication as to when this photo was taken...
Ah spring . . . the smell of fresh-cut grass, the slow thaw of winter (where applicable), and the lovely grace period before another Valley summer comes along and kicks everyone's ass. Spring also means the start of music festival season -- with SXSW kicking things off in March, followed by Coachella in April. Sometimes a band is good enough to book a gig at either festival, let alone both. Scottish indie rockers Frightened Rabbit -- in their quest to conquer North America -- have done what few bands have already done this year: they have pulled down both a spot at Coachella and a showcase at SXSW. Their success is good news for Valley fans of the band.

Being as economical and as timely as a band can be these days, Frightened Rabbit decided to parlay both those gigs into a tidy North American tour -- including a show at the Clubhouse on April 19. They last played Phoenix in June 2008, when their last album, The Midnight Organ Fight, had been released to massive critical acclaim. Their latest album, The Winter of Mixed Drinks, is schedule for release March 9 -- just in time for them to conquer America's interests. Frightened Rabbit will join the likes Beach House, Yeasayer, Deer Tick and The Big Pink -- bands that all have Valley dates either before or after their sets at Coachella. So don't fret if you can't make it out to Indio -- you can still do some good damage with the plethora of Coachella bands playing in Phoenix.
