It's not even 2010 yet and we seem to have a headliner set for the 2010 version of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The festival -- which will run the weekend of April 16-18 -- will purportedly feature British rock gods Muse as one of the three headliners. This is all according to the music blog Consequence of Sound, which states, "According to a source with knowledge of the festival's plans, Muse will serve as a headliner for the Indio, CA event." You can believe what they say now or wait until the lineup is confirmed in a few months.

Yours truly is a big fan of Coachella, having attended the festival for the past 4 years, and this news only ramps up my excitement for the 2010 edition. Muse last played Coachella in 2004, when their music wasn't being played during Monday Night Football broadcasts and promos for the ABC program V (I have often heard the Muse song, "Uprising," lead MNF into a commercial for V featuring that same song). Over-saturation of said song aside, Muse is a smart choice for the festival, especially for those fans who wait on pins and needles for Pavement to finally be confirmed as the Sunday night headliner. However, what we have now (according to Consequence of Sound) is Muse, and they will simply have to do until the tentative Coachella lineup is announced in late January.
