Outlaw country music star David Allan Coe has called off his scheduled appearance this Thursday at the Venue of Scottsdale, which will surely come as a disappointment for anyone hoping to see the infamous rebel guitarist in action (like our music editor Martin Cizmar, for instance).
The circumstances behind the cancellation are somewhat murky. We spoke with the folks at Venue of Scottsdale, who told us they had contract negotiation issues with Coe's people and were unable to come to an agreement. The show was supposedly moving to Last Exit Bar & Grill in Tempe, but according to the management for the DAC, there were "monetary issues" that prevented this from happening.
Coe's managers indicated they were attempting to reschedule the show for an unspecified date in the future.
Coe was also scheduled to perform tonight at The Rock in Tucson, but that show may also have been canceled, as it is no longer listed on the club's web site. His appearance at Flagstaff's Museum Club on Friday is apparently still happening.
