Arty Girl: Wire Crochet Workshop at MADE

Oooooh, pretty...

This one's a ways off, but, if you're like me and you need the social/emotional comfort of securing a good friend to come along with you for this kind of thing, you'll need some time to coordinate.

MADE art boutique is hosting a wire crochet class and workshop on Saturday, August 15th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For only 25 bucks you will receive instruction by the uber-experienced metal jewelry maker, Kathy Hunter and you get to bring a lovely pair of dangly earrings home.

Given Hunter's ten years of experience, certification in precious Metal Clay instruction and ample classes that she teaches out of her studio at THE LOFT in Scottsdale, she can probably do this kind of thing in her sleep. She is a master of metal jewelry - just check out her jewelry photo gallery. That is some serious skill.

As for the rest of us shlubs, we need someone like her hold our little hands and walk us through the process of bending and weaving wire...sans any complicated understanding of chemical make-up, metallic properties or welding goggles (phew!).

To me, this sounds like a beautiful exercise in meticulous, meditative-like action...perfect for a Saturday.
