Sun Sessions: Alan Jackson's "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow"

A few weeks back, we had a little idea for Up on the Sun: inspired by The Black Cab Sessions and The Peel Sessions we thought it'd be cool to do something similar with Phoenix bands here on Up n the Sun. The Train Tracks, a very cool local site, is also doing something like this, getting local bands to play an acoustic song while riding the light rail, but we thought we'd get local artists to play something you've never heard them do before, in our courtyard, an environment that lets us control the audio/video quality a little more.

We're pleased to introduce The Sun Sessions, which we hope will be a semi-regular feature where local bands play a cover of a national act who's bringing their tour through town. For the first one we lined up local country singer-guitarist Jim Bachmann who brought along his friend, highly-respected local peddle steel player Tony Martinez to play a cover of Alan Jackson's "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow" in honor of Jackson's appearance at Country Thunder this Saturday.

By the way, Bachmann has a super cool show coming up April 29 at the Yucca Tap Room, playing with Mitch and Greg, the rhythm section from What Laura Says and Tim Rovnak from Los Guys on accordion/keys. Here's hoping Martinez also stops by. That show also features  Matt Reveles and Shelby James so it should be a hell of a night.
