| Yeah, I see it, too. It's a dijeridou. Just use your own discretion this weekend. |
Thackery has made his name playing guitar with the band The Nighthawks while Musselwhite is a multiple-Grammy nominee, playing harp and harmonica with such acts as Bonnie Raitt, The Blind Boys of Alabama and INXS. Both days' lineups are full of acts, nicely rounding out both the Blues and the Jazz stages.
The weather is sure to be nice and the atmosphere will be decidedly more family friendly than the scene in either Tempe or Florence. There is nothing wrong with making a trip to Glendale, even if nothing is going on at University of Phoenix Stadium or Jobing.com Arena. The Gibson Jazz and Blues Festival is the perfect (and fiscally responsible) reason to make the trip out west this weekend.
For more information on the festival, including the lineup and set times, check out the festival's homepage.
If you love Southern food (or good food in general) and will be out in Glendale for the festival, I suggest stopping by 51st & Olive and checking out Restaurant 28. You won't be sorry.
