Put Some 'Sizzle' In It

So we've all heard Al Gore foretell the end of days in his Oscar-winning doc An Inconvenient Truth. But let's be honest: Al Gore, God love him, isn't the most, shall we say, engaging of speakers. This is the man who made kissing his own wife look creepy and robotic. So when we heard that the Arizona premiere of Sizzle -- a global warming docu-comedy from scientist-turned-filmmaker Randy Olson -- would have its Arizona premiere at ASU this weekend, we had to check out the trailer.
The verdict? We can't speak for the whole movie, but the trailer is pretty damn funny. From the movie's fabulously gay producers who tell Olson, "We feel very, very passionate about global warming. And we feel very upset about it. We just don't know why we're upset," to a cameraman who suggests Olson title his movie Smokey and the Planet, this is one of those films that seems like it could pull off the impressive feat of being both educational and entertaining.

Sizzle will be screened at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday as the kickoff event for ASU's four-day Darwinfest event, to celebrate Darwin's 200th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of the publication of "On the Origin of Species." For more information, visit http://darwin.asu.edu.
