M. Ward, Vetiver, Owen, and Sigur Ros are Just Some of What's Selling at Revolver Records

Mathew Ward and Zooey Deschanel (a.k.a. She & Him).

We fully admit to our jealousy of Mathew Ward.

Not only does the Portland guitarist have an obscene amount of talent (which he's demonstrated much over the past decade on seven separate full-length albums), Ward's collaborated musically with such indie all-stars as Cat Power, Bright Eyes, and Yo La Tengo. The dude (who performs as M. Ward) even got to perform on Letterman last night.

Plus, he's best friends with the gorgeous Zooey Deschanel, which makes us even more envious.

In case you missed Noah W. Bailey's post from December, Ward joined forces with the cutie-pie actress to create the indie-folk duo She & Him, which has gotten much love from music geeks and critics alike. But as good as their debut disc, Volume One, was, it pales in comparison to the quality of Ward's Hold Steady.

The 14-track album, which was released by North Carolina indie label Merge Records, is a spectacular slice of folk-pop, featuring appearances by Deschanel and DeVotchKa's multi-talented Tom Hagerman. Even though it's been in stores for a few days, the disc is moving faster than Jamaican sprinter Ulan Boll, especially at Phoenix store Revolver Records, 4214 North Seventh Avenue, where it reigns atop their current list of best sellers.
