Dear and the Headlights, Kinch, and Peachcake Stage a Free Show Tonight in Scottsdale

Dear in the Headlights is giving it up for free this weekend.

The Edge 103.9 appears to have finally gotten a clue.

For the past two months I've berated the local alt-rock station for its habit of booking aging '90s throwbacks like Marcy Playground and Sponge to headline the Third Thursday concert series in Scottsdale (sample my vitriol here and here) instead of using the event to showcase far more relevant indie-rock acts.

The Edge just might've been listening to me, as evidenced by the line-up for this month's edition of Third Thursday: Dear in the Headlights, Kinch, and Peachcake.

Hit the jump for more info on the concert, as well as info on another free Dear in the Headlights show this weekend that you don't wanna miss.

The Edge's Third Thursday event promises to be one of the biggest concerts of the year, as it features three of the hottest indie-rock acts in Phoenix. It almost makes we want to take back all the nasty things I've written about The Edge in my previous blogs. Almost. And the best thing about the whole deal is that it's completely free, which I hope results in a ginormous crowd of Valley rock fans gathering tonight.

Speaking of which, here are the necessary details: The show starts at 7 p.m. and will go down at Craftsman Court in Scottsdale, which is located off Third Avenue just east of Scottsdale Road. If you're looking for a place to park, the best bet would be the structure just behind Dos Gringos. (If it's full, hit up the spaces along either Third or Fifth avenues).

But if you can't make it out to the Third Thursday party, Dear and the Headlights will present a pair of free performances on Friday at the Heard Museum, 2301 North Central Avenue, in downtown Phoenix. The sets start at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

"Since we are playing for a total of an hour and a half, you're probably going to hear almost every song we've ever written," the band states on their MySpace.

What more could you ask for?
