Concert of the Year Countdown: #8 Foxboro Hot Tubs

Show: Foxboro Hot Tubs at the Brickhouse Theatre, May 26.

Hundreds of people stood in line for hours to get into this sold-out show. The now-defunct Brickhouse Theatre was packed to capacity -- so much so that a few people passed out and had to be treated for heat exhaustion outside on the curb. For fans of Green Day, the gig was worth the wait and sweat. Even though Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool came out wearing fuzzy, mop-top wigs, there was no mistaking that FHT was Green Day's garage rock alter-ego once they started playing. The songs were simple, four-chorders with bouncy beats, and there wasn't anything in the set list as catchy as "Longview" or "American Idiot," but the band was super-tight and spot-on, and the show provided the only opportunity fans might ever have to see the members of Green Day up-close, outside of a massive arena.
