Jimmy Eat World Celebrates Anniversary of Clarity By Playing It Live

It’s arguably the most influential record ever released by an Arizona band, and next year Jimmy Eat World’s Clarity turns 10. To celebrate, the band has announced that they’ll be playing the album in its entirety on a slate of 10 shows, culminating at The Marquee on March 7. Tickets go on sale Thursday.

Though it was released in obscurity in 1999, Clarity gradually became a favorite among this decade’s emoters: Spin recently ran an article polling members of 17 bands ranging from Fall Out Boy to Yellowcard, all of whom cited the record as a big influence. Blender, which has long had love for the album, recently said “It was 1999's masterful Clarity that established a foundation for 21st century emo.”

Clarity, reissued earlier this year, was not regarded as a classic at first, of course, with Capitol dumping the band, which then toured to raise the money to record Bleed American, their platinum album from 2001. Phoenix’s Reuben's Accomplice will support Feb. 23-Mar. 4 with California’s No Knife opening Mar. 5-7.

Here’s the rest of the dates, in case you're interested in seeing the show more than once. Tickets on sale Thursday at jimmyeatworld.com.
