Kings Of Leon’s New Album And Leonard Cohen's Old Albums Are What's Selling Big-Time At Hoodlums New Store

Categories: What's Selling

By Benjamin Leatherman

Much like the mythical bird from which our ‘burg draws its name, popular record store Hoodlums has risen – quite literally – from the ashes. As Steve Jansen wrote in this week’s issue, the music emporium’s former location on the ASU campus was gutted by a tragic fire late last year.

But now the joint’s back and better than ever, as owners Kristian Luce and Steve Wiley have opened a new location in Tempe a few weeks back, and say business has been going “pretty good.”

Particularly, Wiley says, the sales of old-school discs from musicians like Leonard Cohen have picked up after renowned music critic Tom Moon read from his book 1000 Recordings to Hear Before You Die during his in-store appearance last month.

Hence, Hoodlums top 10 best-selling albums for the week of September 30-October 6 is a mix of both the old and new.
