Money good! Pirating bad!

After much anticipation and drama, the metal gods of Metallica are set to release their ninth studio album Death Magnetic for public consumption this coming Friday. Provided they haven’t already downloaded a pirated copy of the Rick Rubin-produced CD, die-hard Metalica fans will likely be lining up at local music stores at midnight tomorrow night to get their mitts on the disc.

All four Zia Record Exchange locations will start slinging Death Magnetic Thursday night at 12 a.m. for the special sale price of $9.99. The Thunderbird location (2510 West Thunderbird Road, 602-866-7867) will also be giving away an autographed copy of Kill Em All on 180-gram vinyl and will feature an appearance by the folks of KUPD, while the Indian School store (1940 West Indian School Road, 602-241-0313) will also have some giveaways.

Fans will also queue up at Ticketmaster locations this Saturday morning as tickets for Metallica’s concert on October 21 at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale go on sale starting at 10 a.m. Heavy metal acts Down and The Sword will open the show, which starts 7 p.m. Admission prices run from $55.50 to $75.50 each (yipes), and Met Club and Mission Metallica members will also get a copy of Death Magnetic and complimentary downloadable recording of the Jobing.com concerts. Visit the Ticketmaster site for more info.
