Here are two big shows that were just announced this week.

Alanis Morissette
With Alexi Murdoch
Tuesday, November 11, 7:30 p.m.
Dodge Theatre
$37.50-$60

Alanis Morissette’s done a lot over the course of her career, from her 1995 breakout album Jagged Little Pill (which has sold more than 30 million copies to date) to beefing up her acting resume with TV appearances (such as Sex in the City) and stage performances (such as The Vagina Monologues) to her latest studio album, this year’s Flavors of Entanglement. Still, her coup de grace of the last three years remains her YouTube video cover of the Black Eyed Peas’ “My Humps,” which proved that not only does the singer still have a stellar set of pipes, but a sense of humor as well.

Random band fact: In 1993, Morissette dated Dave Coulier from the TV show Full House.

Jason Mraz
With Lisa Hannigan
Sunday, November 16, 6:30 p.m.
Dodge Theatre
$35

Jason Mraz may get lumped in with other singer-songwriters like John Mayer and Dave Matthews, but the eclectic artist from Virginia’s got more “rock” than “pop” in his repertoire – enough to land him an opening gig for the Rolling Stones on their 2005-2006 world tour. His latest album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things., has produced his first Top 10 Billboard hit, “I’m Yours.”

Random band fact: 2007 American Idol contestants Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson performed Mraz’s song “Geek in the Pink” on the talent show.
