​My Sleeve: Is my favorite tattoo and the one that truly represents my life through the artwork of Audrey Kawasaki, one of my favorite painters. I had it done when I was 22.

Tattoos to me are little stories and moments in my life that have had an impact on my life, in one way or another. I'll continue to get them for the rest of my life.

Age: Currently 41, when I got the tattoo I was 40.
My Foot Piece: Is a Dia de los Muertos hummingbird.

A couple of years ago, I was riding my bike in flip-flops and wiped out on Seventh Street after a crack ate my tire. I scraped the top of my foot (down to bone in one place!) off, along with parts of a couple of toenails, which have grown back nicely. So I had this ugly nickel-sized scar right on top of my foot and I am vain about my feet. I wanted to cover it up. At first I just wanted a subtle orange flower, but everyone's right:

​Name: Amy Donohue Age: 39 and 9 months, I was 36 when I started my tattoo.

The phoenix is my biggest tattoo. It starts just above my elbow on my left arm and goes almost up to my neck. I started getting it three years ago, when I was 36. It took a year to finish and over 20 hours total. It represents the crazy life I've lived! I feel that my experiences have made me a phoenix, rising up from the ashes. Divorce, drug and alcohol addiction and abusive relationships, but I made it out and I'm fine now. Really.

My Shoulder Piece: I've been obsessed with (graphic artist) Fiona Hewitt's work ever since I was 15, and I saw the work she was doing for BlueQ. I've always felt a little bit like a hummingbird because I'm always on the move; I can't sit still or stay focused on one idea for too long.

Birds (especially hummingbirds) hold a lot of meaning to me, so getting this piece done was really important to me. There's a lot I want to do, but I'd always been so afraid. A couple weeks ago, I told myself "it's time to be fearless." So I was.

Since I was 13 I wanted this tattoo, "Mi Vida Loca" which means "My Crazy Life". It is on my back shoulder to shoulder. It is my first tattoo and I had to go big. Well, my artist had big thoughts and I LOVE IT.

I had the tattoo done with my mother. It's by Tony Olvera at Lady Luck Tattoo Gallery. My mother is the most amazing person to me -- she has gone through many hardships and through them I have learned a lot from her.

​Age: Currently 47; I got this tattoo in 2004.

My Arm Piece: My son Race drew this when he was 4 (he is 11 now). We were making treasure maps on old brown paper grocery bags -- you know where you crumple the paper and burn the edges to make it look old.

He drew this on the map on where you start to look for the treasure. The original picture was about two inches high and I scanned the map and copied the pic into Photoshop.

Age:  Currently 28, I was 25 and 27 when I had my tattoos done.

My Back Piece: I had them done at Living Canvas on Mill Avenue in Tempe. One is the crescent and the star from the Pakistani flag on my back.

It fades from a light green to a dark green to incorporate both the white and green in the actual flag. Below it is in my name, Ayesha, in Arabic.

​Name: Sean Deckert
Age: 26, and was 18 when I got my tattoo.

My Arm Piece: I had done at Vision World in Urbana, Illinois when I was 18. I went to that shop because I was under-aged and heard he would do tattoos anyways. He's a good artist, too. Anyway, I wanted to get this piece on my arm for my Grandma Horton. She was struggling with cancer and lived in Michigan, which means I could not see her as much as I would have liked. I got the top half two years before she died, and the banner afterward.

Age: Currently 23. I had my tattoos done when I was 19 and 22 years old.

My Leg Pieces: I got the storm trooper stockings in April. These are my favorite because they are the biggest ones I have and I love storm troopers. I really like the stocking idea and bows but wanted something in the center of the bows. I've seen a bunch of stocking tattoos with skulls and hearts, but that's just "not me" so after debating I went with storm troopers.

I collect a lot of storm trooper knick-knacks, though I'm not that big into Star Wars. I got these when I was 22. I didn't own a single pair of shorts before these tattoos, I now have a bunch, and I'm also not so pasty looking.
