Spending a lot of time and money on nails is cool and all, but most men probably won't even notice them unless you point them out.

Ladies, there are a lot of things you can do to make yourself appealing to guys. Unfortunately for many of you, it's usually not the stuff you think it is. Believe it or not, most dudes aren't going to notice a lot of the little things that you think you're doing for them. To save you some time and energy, here's a list of 10 things (in no particular order) that the majority of heterosexual males couldn't care less about.

10. The imperfection in your hair

Odds are, guys already think you take too long making your curly hair straight or your straight hair curly. You know that one little flat spot that you missed or the crinkle in your hair from where you pressed too hard with the flat iron? Yeah, no normal guy on Earth is going to notice that when they're talking to you, much less judge you for it.

9. Your nails

Let's be honest, outside of those guys who have a thing for feet, most men aren't even going to notice your fingers and toes as long as you're not missing any. Spending a fortune to get your nails done (or getting fake nails) might make you feel extra special and sparkly, but you can probably save your money if you think it'll help you find a guy.

... Seriously? I don't understand the basis for this article. Women do all this shit to get men? I personally keep my nails clean and polished because it's professional. I dress well because it expresses my personality. Ditto on my hair. As for popular culture and making memories, you're just making men out to be douchebags. The true gentlemen would listen to what you have to say. If your favorite show is pretty little liars, he would respect that and care about your interests. Plus, you referring to women as "props" is just disgusting. Please tell me the editor was intelligent enough to realize that this would elicit anger.

Most of these things we do for us, not for them and if we are indeed a "prop" for them they would notice so this doesn't make sense!

Why are women referred to as "props" in the article?

Guys DO care about this stuff, well most guys and many of them do all they can to be just as attractive for women! Taking care of ourselves is for us and also to be pleasant for the one we want to be with. So, get the crud out from under your nails, brush your teeth, drag a comb thru your mop, oh and shave!!!!

We're individual human beings. The few braindead who identify with this are actually a shrinking demographic. Sad that you aren't realizing this. Insulting to those of us who do.

Not sure if you missed any but I know that the number one thing that journalists think women care about but they don't is what the blob that journalists think "women" that all think alike are thinking or the alternative blob that journalists think "men" are all thinking. What at least a few of us are thinking is "Dear god, please stop trying to feed to our youth that they are not individuals - you're RUINING our world. Stop. Please. Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop." Or maybe it's just me.

Another #OpenlySexist article from the New Times. What about the things that men think women care about? Like the latest stupid video game or action film? Yawn.

Most women don't do it for guys, they do it for themselves, I am a feminine lesbian and I sure as he'll don't do it for men or other women. Very sexist post

Things like hair/nails/makeup may not be important to men, but they make us feel good, and confidence is sexy!

Lol, someone tell the author what year it is! Apparently the Authority on Men is here to tell us to stop wearing so much makeup, eat a damn cheeseburger, and for gawd's sake stop sharing your interests if you want to attract a man!

Guys care about sex, food, sports.

Everything else is too trivial to matter.

                    We really are that  simple.

Another off-base, generalized article. I wonder if they just hit themselves in the head with bats until they come up with an idea for an "informative" article.

Wrong. Guys do care about all of this stuff and are just as judgemental as women. ;)

You mean 10 things women care about whether men care about it or not? I don't care what men think about these things, but I'll paint my nails and do my hair whenever/however I want.

If any guy thinks that a girl does her nails and wears certain brands to look good for men, a hearty LOL to you. Not everything is about looking good for guys...
