Meet the downtown Phoenix filmmaker.
Phoenix is brimming with creativity. And every other year, we put the spotlight on 100 of the city's creative forces. Leading up to the release of this year's Best of Phoenix issue, we're profiling 100 more. Welcome to the 2014 edition of 100 Creatives. Up today: 74. Jon Jenkins.

Jon Jenkins is thinking big.

And that's particularly true when it comes to his to-do list.

The downtown Phoenix-based filmmaker says he's working on music videos, documentaries, commercials, photography, and some fashion work, too.

"There are a lot of projects I am excited to finish up," says the 25-year-old. "I am happy to be able to show some different approaches and shooting styles that I have been working on over the years."

I came to Phoenix fresh out of high school with my car fully packed from Jacksonville, Florida. I moved out here to attend SCC "The Film School."

I make art because it gives me an outlet to express myself and show people what interest me. I've been doing it all of my life, unconsciously, with the encouragement from my mom. It is all I know.

I'm most productive when I'm under pressure.

My inspiration wall is full of everyday experiences, people's business cards, paintings, photographs, editorial publications. I like working with older artist who have presented their work outside of Phoenix. It's cool to see some of the artist who have families that continue to work as professional artist and further their careers.

I've learned most from friends, peers, school, working, life experiences.

Good work should always progress.

The Phoenix creative scene could use more funding to help support working artists.
