Top 5 Things to Do in Metro Phoenix This Weekend
Jessica Cole Scottsdale Musical Theatre Company makes its Tempe debut.
They say life is a cabaret, my friend, but in this modern time, is that really the case? Really, life is a rave, my tripping buddy; or a death metal concert, my headbanger; or wasted hours on Facebook, my followers. Yet, for some, it seems the idea of a cabaret -- those seedy nightclubs of the 1930s specializing in song, dance, and debauchery -- is still the thing. A Broadway hit initially, and later adapted to the big screen starring Liza Minnelli, Cabaret captures the dynamic spirit of the bawdy Kit Kat Klub in pre-World War II Germany. Full of rousing song, dance, and subterfuge, Cabaret is a fast-paced rush, just what most lives need, my friend.
Enjoy the Scottsdale Musical Theater Company's rendition at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 West Rio Salado Parkway. Tickets are $28, $35, and $39. Visit www.scottsdalemusicaltheater.com. -- Glenn BurnSilver
