Local literature lovers are lucky that some excellent public libraries and two of the nation's best bookstores also call the Valley home. Here's a look at some upcoming literary events in our area.

Children's Book Week

Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe is celebrating the longest running national literacy initiative in the United States with a week of picture book story times, family-friendly fun and teen book signings. New York Times bestselling author Philip Kerr will discuss his latest novel, Prayer, on May 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Burton Barr Central Library. He will also sign copies of his books. Admission is free.
