Southwest Maker Fest
Attention all inventors, creators, Frankenstein makers, and mad scientists, a new event is coming to the East Valley to celebrate those who don't just think out west, they think outside the box. In light of the DIY "maker" movement happening across the United States, the first-ever Southwest Maker Fest will be assembled in downtown Mesa on Saturday, March 22.

The inaugural Southwest Maker Fest, a signature event of the Arizona SciTech Festival which coincides with spark! Mesa's Festival of Creativity, will serve as a free community gathering of Valley creatives, from artists to engineers.

Running from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the festival will feature exhibits, workshops, talks, demos, performances, and content-testing.

Institutions participating in the Southwest Maker Fest will include Arizona Science Center, ASU's Tempe and Polytechnic campuses, Downtown Mesa Association, i.d.e.a. Museum, Maricopa Community Colleges, Mesa Arts Center, and Mesa Public Library.

Exhibitors interested in participating in the upcoming Southwest Maker Fest can still apply but must do so by Friday, February 28. For more information or to fill out an application, visit www.southwestmakerfest.com.
