Christina Ricci to Star as Lizzie Borden in Bloody Lifetime Movie
It's a well-known fact that Lifetime has a serious thing for making movies (and money) off of suspected and/or convicted female killers: Jodie Arias, Casey Anthony, Amanda Knox...
Lizzie Borden Took An Axe, Lifetime
Which is why we're a little surprised it has taken the channel this long to tell the tale of a murderer so old, she has her own nursery rhyme:
Lizzie Borden took an ax
And gave her mother 40 whacks.
When she saw what she had done
She gave her father 41.

Yesterday Vulture released the teaser trailer for Lifetime's upcoming Lizzie Borden biopic, Lizzie Borden Took An Axe. The made-for-TV movie, which is set to premiere at 8 p.m. January 25, 2014, reenact (with some melodramatic liberties) the story of the 32-year-old Massachusetts woman who was tried and acquitted of murdering her father and stepmother with an ax in 1892.
Playing Borden will be Christina Ricci, who is no stranger to dark on-screen roles, with parts in Addams Family, The Gathering, Monster. And then, of course, there's her ongoing work as a muse for Mark Ryden's cute yet creepy pop surrealist paintings.
Check out the traielr for a closer look and don't feel too guilty for being slightly excited to see it (because frankly, we are too).
