Phoenix Art Museum curator of modern and contemporary art Sara Cochran has resigned.

Though a formal statement wasn't released on the matter, the museum's public relations manager Nicole DeLeon confirmed that Cochran submitted her resignation Thursday, September 19.

Cochran has served as PAM's modern and contemporary art curator since 2008. Prior to that, she was assistant curator at Los Angeles County Museum of Contemporary Art (LACMA). She had also held positions at the Getty Center in LA and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. She's originally from Glasgow, Scotland.

Cochran had returned neither our call nor email as of this writing. She mentioned in her outgoing voicemail message that she is currently out of town on a speaking engagement at the Houston Fine Art Fair.

According to DeLeon, Cochran's last day at Phoenix Art Museum will be November 15, and Cochran will oversee the annual Contemporary Forum ArtPick event, which will be held that evening.

A search for Cochran's replacement will begin immediately.

Editor's note: This post has been modified to reflect that ArtPick 2013 takes place November 15, not November 16.
