"One of the reasons I'm doing it at a gallery is because a club didn't really seem like the sort of proper setting for what I'm hoping to do with this show," she says. "It's definitely going to be a different vibe and a space like monOrchid is more suited for this work or for this sort of event."
Deveroux says she scheduled the exhibition's opening during the week between First and Third Friday in November in order to set it apart from other downtown art events.
"I didn't want to just piggyback it on First or Third Friday," she says. "I wanted it to have its own identity.
As for the sort of works she's seeking for the exhibition, Deveroux intends to feature photographs that have "a certain composition, quality, and aesthetic value" that's similar in content and form to the stylized creations of renowned local photographers like Daveed Benito, John Covington, Tate Hemlock, and John Foley. (All four artists will have pieces in the show.)

In other words, no selfies, Instagram fodder, or something that took the minimum amount of effort.
"We're not really looking for things where somebody pulls out a camera and takes a shot," Deveroux says. "It needs to be stylized and it needs to be above-average quality."
She encourages photographers interested in being featured at the show to send their ideas and concepts ASAP via e-mail to email@example.com. Deveroux and monOrchid's art program director Justin Germain can offer feedback and approval on ideas before works are sent in. The overall deadline for final submissions is Saturday, October 5. More information can be found via Deveroux's Facebook page.
