Six Must-See Oscars Parties in Metro Phoenix
Many Hollywood pundits and movie industry wags have predicted that Argo is gonna clean up big time at the 85th Academy Awards ceremony this coming Sunday. Then again, it might be a big night for Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook, or Zero Dark Thirty. (Personally, we're hoping Tarantino finally gets his due with Django Unchained.)

But whatever the outcome of Hollywood's biggest event of the year this weekend, which is being hosted by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, there's guaranteed to be plenty to tears, cheers, and upsets, which you can witness along with your fellow movie buffs at some of the special viewing parties taking place around Metro Phoenix on Sunday, February 24.
A few other Academy Award-themed events will also be taking place around Metro Phoenix in the days leading up to the ceremony, including a chance to see the famed golden statuette in person.

An authentic Oscar statuette will be on display at the theatre from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, as a part of a touring exhibition promoting the Academy Awards. Folks can photo with the golden statuette or perhaps use the opportunity to practice their acceptance speeches. A reception will also held. Call 480-483-1664.

Need to catch up on all the "Best Picture" nominees? This East Valley theatre will be screening four of the nine movies up for the biggest honor around during a special Oscars marathon on Sunday, February 24. For $30 per person, viewers can screen Argo, Silver Linings Playbook, Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained in back-to-back-to-back fashion. The Arthritis Foundation Greater Southwest Chapter will be hosting a star-studded and massively ritzy "Oscar Experience" on Sunday, February 24, at this posh Phoenix resort. Those in attendance will get the red carpet treatment and will also get to experience paparazzi, champagne, gourmet food, pampering from Rolfs Salon hair and make-up, luxurious swag bags, free passes to Harkins Theatres, and more.
