If you run a Phoenix-based non-profit arts or cultural organization that could use some extra cash for a creative project, you're in luck. The city of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture is now accepting applications for its Community Arts Grants Program.

Grant money is available to support educational projects, festival activities, and general operations.

According to the city of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, the General Operating Support grants aim to "promote organizational stability, stimulate growth and professional development, and increase the organization's accessibility to the general public." The grant has three categories for organizations with different annual budgets. The application is due March 25.

The Festival Project grant will support Phoenix-based festivals that highlight a single art form, multidisciplinary art form, or celebrate a specific cultural group. To be eligible for the grant, festivals must be open to the public. Application deadline is April 15.

The Arts Education grant aims to support programs and projects that promote learning in the arts. According to the city of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, "The city is particularly interested in funding projects designed to integrate Arts into STEM programs (STEM to STEAM) and projects that link to the Arizona Arts Standards curricula. Partnerships or collaborations between arts or cultural organizations, schools, school districts, after-school programs or community-based social service organizations are strongly encouraged. Arts education programs can serve youth, seniors or special populations identified by programs or service agencies." Application deadline is April 15.

Each grant is a dollar-for-dollar matching grants, so grantees must raise funds from foundations, individuals and corporations that will then be matched by the city. In 2012, the city of Phoenix awarded 32 grants and gave $525,346 in funding.
