Pitchapalooza: Register Now for Changing Hands and Phoenix Public Library's Publishing Workshops and Book Pitch Contest
There's still time to nab a spot for the Indie Author Publishing Conference Pitchapalooza on February 9 at Burton Barr Central Library.
The all-day conference is co-hosted by Changing Hands Bookstore and the Phoenix Public Library, who will also partner this weekend to host a Young Adult Writing Conference.
This month's event includes a line up of eight, 45-minute sessions, a lunch talk, and, of course, a Pitchapalooza.
The annual conference addresses the technological and trend changes in publishing as well as planning out your book, finding an agent, self-publishing, physical v. digital, looking at publishing houses, promoting your work on social media, the legal stuff, and more through sessions and workshops.
Changing Hands and The Phoenix Public Library also plan to bring in experts from a variety of aspects of publishing, including Changing Hands owners Gayle Shanks and Cindy Dach, authors Laurie Notaro, Annette Rogers, David Henry Sterry, Stella Pope Duarte, Landon J. Napoleon, Tania Katan, Bill Wyman, Terry Greene Sterling and New Times' managing editor Amy Silverman, social media gurus Evo Terra and Jeff Moriarty, literary agent Arielle Eckstut, business coach Leah Vanpoelvoorde, and editor Paul Taunton (to name a few).
The event also includes an opportunity for one-minute book pitches to a panel of judges. A number of participants will be randomly chosen from the event's guest list, and the panel will provide feedback on idea, style, marketability, and more. The panel will then pick a winner who will be introduced to an agent within his/her genre.
