Pantone Announces 2013 Color of the Year, Emerald Green

Let's hear it for 17-5641, Emerald Green

"The 2012 color of the year, PANTONE 17-1463 Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, provided the energy boost we needed to recharge and move forward," writes Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Emerald, a vivid verdant green, enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight as well as promoting balance and harmony."

Pantone makes the announcement every year and (literally) sets the tone for the year's design color schemes from wall paint to bridesmaid dresses.

And if last year's Tangerine Tango was a color to ward off the blues and get the energy going, Emerald Green is here to keep us all vibing.

"The most abundant hue in nature, the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum," writes Eiseman.
