The Most Interesting New Year's Eve Parties in Metro Phoenix
Great Gatsby Party at W Scottsdale Hotel
To borrow some slang from the 1920s, anything and everything having to do with F. Scott Fitzgerald's landmark novel The Great Gatsby seems to be the bee's knees right about now due to the buildup to next spring's cinematic adaptation of the literary classic. Which means it's the perfect time for the folks at the ultra-upscale W Hotel to stage an ultra-stylish New Year's party inspired by the tome. A convivial atmosphere of luxe libations and Prohibition-era stylishness will ensue at the W on Monday, December 31, as the star-studded affair takes place both throughout the hotel and will boast a "speakeasy reminiscent of the Roaring Twenties." Acrobats and professional ice skaters will entertain, photo ops with a vintage 1920s automobile will be available, and both DJ Soloman and jazz/pop artist Scott Keo will perform. Go Gatsby starting at 8 p.m. 8 p.m. Admission to the event only is $75 for ladies, $100 for guys. A slew of special cabana, VIP, and room options are also available. See www.wscottsdaletickets.com.
Berserk! Cirque! at The Rogue
The fetishistic freaks behind the monthly Cupcake! dance party (and bazaar of the bizarre) are planning a entirely scandalous and twisted fiesta that will offer live performances by Xylogrind and The Infamous Boom Boom, as well as giveaways, go-go girls, absinthe, and a "best dressed" contest for prizes. Resident DJs Self.Destrukt and Defense.Mekanizm will spin hard-hitting industrial and electro all night. This frenzy of fun starts at 8 p.m. General admission is $10, VIP access (which includes penny drinks all night) is $30.
