After you get done supping on turkey and all the trimmings with kith and kin, head for this downtown Phoenix club. Pete "SuperMix" Salaz will be putting on his annual Red Monkey party, which will offer dancing and drinking fun into the wee hours as a cornucopia of house music DJs work the wheels of steel. The party runs from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. Tickets are $10.
If fighting the crowds at local malls and big box stores on the day after Thanksgiving ain't your thing, DJ Apollynon and his pals are offering a bit of Black Friday insanity at Sanctum. Industrial and other dark tunes will blast over the sound system as patrons in black clothing thrash about on the dance floor. Drink specials and a performance by guest DJ Captain Lazerus is also promised. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $5.
Just because the Halloween season is over with and done doesn't mean that the folks at Mesa's Monsterland have packed things up until next October. In fact, they're putting on a pair of parties during the Turkey Day weekend you might want to check out, especially if you're a fan of either karaoke or Doctor Who. A special pre-Thanksgiving "Scareoke" session will be held on Wednesday, November 21, starting at 8 p.m. Admission is free. Two night later, the joint will be invaded by flocks of wanna-be timelords during the "Doctor Who 49th Anniversary Bash" on Friday, November 23. Classic episodes of the long-running British science fiction favorite will be shown and a costume contest will award prizes to the "Best Doctor," "Best Companion," and other categories. Doors open at 10 p.m. Admission is $5 or a donation of non-perishable food items.
