All right, smarty pants, you think you've got a handle on all things brainy?

We've got news for you: the Valley's rife with all sorts of experts who dabble in arts, sciences, and everything in between. And those pros offer up their knowledge readily at lectures all over town every month. Here are five that serve as irrefutable proof.

Garth Fagan @ Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
Garth Fagan is the founder, director, and namesake of Garth Fagan Dance, a company known for innovation and blending genres, like ballet and postmodernism. Oh, and he choreographed a Tony-winning Broadway show you might have heard about: The Lion King. Fagan will discuss his technique, dance school, and company on Friday, November 16.

The pre-show talk is free for ticketholders and begins at 6:30 p.m. at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. A performance from the troupe will follow at 8 p.m.

"Equity in the Nano City" @ Arizona Science Center
Speakers Timothy Boyd and Ira Bennett will discuss how technological innovations can balance out imbalances in the free market. Hear their takes on the topic at Arizona Science Center on Friday, November 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Jerry Howard and Tom Wilson of the Arizona Museum of Natural History will talk about the southwest tribe's impact on and history as inhabitants of what's now the city of Mesa. Brush up on your local history in the Encanto Room at Heard Museum on Monday, November 19, at 1:30 p.m.
