For quite some time the Grand Avenue Arts and Small Business District has been a wellspring for art, music, fashion and culture in Phoenix. To celebrate this community, the local arts spaces and small businesses that run along Grand Avenue take part in the annual Grand Avenue Festival.

This year's festival will take place Saturday, October 20, and will feature free historic building tours, including a "preserved historic structure, a historic complex being completely renovated and restored and an adaptive re-use project of a vintage warehouse building," according to the festival's organizers.

Visitors can take free tours through the Phoenix Laundry and Dry Cleaning building (now Milum Textiles), O.S. Stapley Hardware Store, and 1205 Space at 1205 W. Pierce, which will begin at 8 a.m. and run every hour until 11 a.m.

After experiencing the distinct architecture of buildings dating back to the early 20th century and the unique spaces around Grand Avenue, visitors will be offered the opportunity to attend screenings of "The Greenest Building," a film about the adaptive re-use of older buildings.

These screenings will be held every hour starting at 10:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. and will be shown at Soul Invictus Peformance Space, 1022 Grand Avenue.
