If you've been tuned in to Design Week coverage and the explosion of creative meet-ups, panels, and lectures, you've probably caught wind of Phoenix's new monthly lecture series that will be looking to get your creative juices flowing to start the day.

Creative Mornings is a free, monthly event that features a 20-minute talk, geared toward the local creative community. It's meant to spur innovation and new ideas -- and it includes breakfast.

Organized by local artist and designer, Jess Trounce, Creative Mornings will hold its first event at the Icehouse on Friday, September 28 as a part of Phoenix Design Week.

Jason Smith of Graphicology.com will speak about "Passion Projects" at the historic Icehouse in downtown Phoenix. The Icehouse, which began operations in 1920 manufacturing ice blocks for the food industry, has since been converted into a space for art exhibitions and community events.

Smith, called "an odd mix of art director and technologist," has worked all over the world and collaborated on big-name accounts including Google, Nintendo, Burger King, and the San Francisco 49ers.

Following his 20-mintue lecture, which will begin at 9 a.m., there will also be a group discussion. The event should conclude around 10 a.m.

For more information or to register for the event visit the Eventbrite website or the Creative Mornings PHX Facebook. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., parking is limited.
