Because nothing says the first week of college like a good party and an old-fashioned hangover, the brain trust at Urban Outfitters decided to kick the season/school year off right with a collection of boozy tees and tank tops for their target female audience of 18- to 24-year-olds.

But with any blackout or boozy decision comes the likelihood of a disapproving mother, and in Urban Outfitters' case, thousands of mothers who are also members of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

The group has released statements about the handful of tees and tanks that bear slogans including "Vote for Vodka," "USA Drinking Team," and "I Drink You're Cute." MADD national president Jan Withers has said she's concerned about the clothing's pro-drinking message and lack of warning of the dangers and consequences of alcohol abuse and underage drinking.

Despite the outcry, Urban Outfitters is keeping the shirts, which are available on its website for $30 to $40. According to the Federal Trade Commission, there is no legislation or legal action that could force the company (known widely for questionable apparel choices and ripped-off products) to take the tees off the market.

So rejoice back-to-schoolers -- you can still make blurry first impressions ... and have the overpriced cotton shirt to prove it.
