Categories: 100 Creatives

When we last put the spotlight on 100 creative forces in Phoenix, it was no secret there were more than 100 individuals who were making waves in the local arts community. So as we count down to our annual Best of Phoenix issue, we're profiling 100 more. Welcome (back) to 100 Creatives.

Seth Gideon Fainkujen
Seth Gideon Fainkujen says he's a jeweler by trade, but he enjoys making a variety of beautiful objects.

When he's not hand-engraving, stone setting, or fabricating, he's likely painting, drafting, or designing accessories that he sells through private shows, and his independent venture, Mother of Gideon.

I came to Phoenix with . . . I was born in San Francisco. My family roots are deep in Arizona going back about five generations.

Seth Gideon Fainkujen
I make art because . . . I honestly probably started making art when I was a lot younger because my brother did and I look up to him. My parents encouraged us to go for what we loved. Creating has all ways been something dear to me.

I am most productive when . . . I couldn't really put my finger on when I'm most productive. I feel like I've had equal part full as well as when I've been empty. I feel I could always be more.

My inspiration wall is full of . . . I really couldn't say but, you know when you feel it. it is beautiful.

Seth Gideon Fainkujen
I've learned the most from . . . learning is a strange thing. I've learned from being wrong... a lot. I have also been blessed to have amazing people in my life. Putting in a lot of hours has helped, understanding process first before manipulating is very important, and making mistakes has taught me about myself and has forced me to ask and answer the questions of who I am and what I stand for.

Good work should always be . . . ambitious and well done.

The Phoenix art scene could use . . . probably more people with money and a discerning eye for quality work.
