Author Jenny Lawson (aka The Bloggess) on Social Anxiety, Literary Heroes, and Her Upcoming Visit to Changing Hands
Journalist and blogger Jenny Lawson's new memoir, Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir), features a photograph of a stuffed mouse on the cover. The mouse is dressed as Hamlet, in a white ruff and red-lined cape, and holds a tiny mouse skull in its paw. It's a fitting image for this book, which is by turns hysterically funny, endearingly odd, and - surprisingly - very moving.

Chapters in the book include "Don't Tell Your Parents," "Jenkins, You Motherfucker," "My Vagina Is Fine. Thanks for Asking," and "You Can't Go Home Again (Unless You Want to Get Mauled by Wild Dogs." And because Lawson can really write, the chapters more than live up to their names, and the book ends up being a lot more substantial and memorable than others of its kind.
